May 25,  · The Chicago XIV remaster actually contains three bonus tracks that blow this song out of the water. Is “Birthday Boy” the worst song Chicago came up with during their era with Columbia Records? Possibly, but there are several dogs on the previous album, ’s Chicago 13, that give it a run for its money.

Birthday Boy This song is by Chicago and appears on the album Chicago XIV (). Birthday boy, blow out the candles; Good friends around you, you should feel O.K. Don't look so sad and blue; Don't act forsaken, this day's for you. Good days are coming, my friend; Life can be easy 'til the end. Birthday boy, don't fear tomorrow; Changes before you; years drift away. You .

CHICAGO XIV, the band's first set of the decade, is a real mixed bag. It features better tunes than the previous offerings--the dismal "Hot Streets" and "Chicago " It boasts the talented guitarist Chris Pinnick, who replaces the mercifully departed Donnie Dacus.4/5(31).

In a way, XIV is the last Chicago album. On the following 16, the band's sound had transformed into something else, but this one still sounds like the good ol' Chicago that used to play on albums like V (), VIII () and XI (), that I like a lot. There is a small trouble with XIV compared to the aforementioned, which naturally is that the songs aren't strong enough.

Seraphine's "Birthday Boy" is a cute song, Just as his "Little One" was on XI. It makes an appropriate closer to the first half of the CD after putting up with Cetera's mess. The second half of the CD is a marvel to listen to. Cetera rips into Hold On, and Overnight Cafe has a mellow meaness /5(9).
